If you like them, please leave a review.

Many thanks.

Free SF and Fantasy Magazines

Authors deserve to get paid for their work but in the scrabble for attention editors find it necessary to make stuff free for readers. A reader who enjoyed some free stuff might start paying for more content thereby making short fiction economically viable.

Here are some magazines you can read for free. But bear in mind that it would be awfully, awfully nice if you could buy stuff or support them in some other way. And remember, my fantasy novels The Brigstowe Dragons and Fixing Forcalquier are still free until tomorrow on Amazon. I can’t pretend they’re as good as the stuff below, but hey. Free! Add them to the 1,624 unread freebies you already have on your Kindle (me too!) and hope they come up with an immortality drug soon so we’ll have time to read them all.

Here are the magazines. There are more and one day I’ll make a page on the website for them.

Interzone Digital is a free supplement to the famous British magazine.

Clarkesworld has both science fiction and fantasy

Fantasy Magazine features all sorts of fantasy.

Lightspeed has both science fiction and fantasy

Beneath Ceaseless Skies focuses on ‘secondary world’ fantasy.

And don’t forget that sfcrowsnest is free and features news and reviews across all the geeky genres.

That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Brigstowe Dragons Rank

The headline is not a review.

Free on Amazon UK Free on Amazon US

The Brigstowe Dragons and Fixing Forcalquier are both still free on Amazon until 25 August, and I have shifted a few copies. I just checked the rankings for Brigstowe Dragons on Amazon US and Amazon UK.

Of course, Amazon has zillions of little categories, and indeed, there are books for sale on Amazon that tell you how to use keywords and clever ploys to get to the top of one or another and look good. I don’t bother with all that, but seeing a ranking is nice.

Fixing Forcalquier doesn’t have a ranking yet in the UK but does in the USA. God bless America!

And, of course, it’s still free until 25 August.

Both books are free anyway in Kindle Unlimited if you are a subscriber.

Have a nice day!
