H.P. Lovecraft’s ‘The Unnamable’ (review)

H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Unnamable was turned into a film in 1988 and has been re-released. Here’s my review on sfcrowsnest. 

From curiosity, I reread the original work. The Unnamable is very early Lovecraft (1923) and I was curious to see if he had originated the four college kids being terrorized by a monster in a haunted house genre. He had not. The scriptwriter/ producer/ director tacks that all onto the end of Lovecraft’s very short yarn.

But the film is entertaining enough and maybe a grade above awful B-movies – a B plus, perhaps. Not that there’s anything wrong with B-movies. I like them.
